Find Meaning in the Mundane
Mental Health Awareness Month đź’š
Hello everyone,
It’s hard to believe summer is almost here! In this newsletter, we’re exploring the art of noticing the ordinary moments around us, coping with panic attacks, and neuroscience-backed tools for self-regulation.
May is also Mental Health Awareness Month, which can serve as a gentle reminder to slow down, prioritize your well-being, and check in with those around you. If you’ve been struggling, know that you are not alone. Take care of yourself and consider reaching out to someone you trust or a mental health professional for support. I’ve included a mental health resources page at the bottom if it feels helpful for you.

A beautiful flower arrangement I saw at the Mount Vernon Place Flower Mart.
Wishing you a wonderful rest of May and a relaxing Memorial Day weekend!
All the best,
Mandy

MENTAL HEALTH CHECK-IN
Noticing the Ordinary
Recently, I’ve been trying to slow down and notice the ordinary moments throughout my day. Finding small ways to practice mindfulness has felt especially grounding lately, and with summer approaching, there have been so many beautiful things to take in and appreciate.
When we intentionally notice what’s around us, it not only helps us become more present, but it can also help us feel more connected to ourselves and our environment. I’ve also found that this practice naturally deepens my sense of gratitude and helps me embrace small joys that might otherwise go unnoticed.
I recently came across a post that perfectly captured this idea, and it inspired me to write this. If this is something you’d like to practice too and you need a few ideas to get started, here are some things I’ve recently been noticing:
Birds chirping outside in the morning
The way the afternoon light hits my plants and casts shadows around the room
Walking by the water and seeing baby ducks (my favorite this time of year)
Making dinner and noticing the smells filling the kitchen
The feeling of a warm breeze when stepping outside
Fresh flowers blooming in neighborhood gardens
The first sip of coffee on a slow morning
Seeing people out walking their dogs or spending time outside
