Mental Health Awareness Month
Take care of yourself
Good morning, friends!
It’s mental health awareness month, and this is your reminder to prioritize your mental health and check in with those around you.
Mental health impacts everyone’s quality of life, day in and day out. And, having open conversations about it can help spread awareness, reduce the stigma, and combat misconceptions.
Here are seven ways you can help normalize conversations about mental health:
Talk openly & regularly about how you’re feeling
Educate yourself on what contributes to mental health
Be conscious of language
Show compassion — you never know what someone is going through
Be an advocate for exploring different forms of therapy
Encourage equality between physical and mental health
Encourage others to seek help
Every. One. Struggles.
You shouldn’t put off getting help because of what someone else thinks or what you think they might think…
Reach out to someone you trust, or a mental health professional, and take care of yourself!
Questions to Ask Potential Therapists
Starting the therapy process can be extremely hard and overwhelming. It takes a lot of courage and strength to seek support, and it can be challenging to know where to start. If you’re feeling this way or starting the process, here are some questions you can ask potential therapists to support you in deciding if someone is the right fit:
What is your training and clinical background?
How long have you been practicing?
How much experience do you have working with issues like mine?
How long is a typical session?
What should I expect in my first session?
All the best,
Mandy
